EVELYN Backhouse: 100 on Friday
Evelyn Backhouse stayed in work until she turned 84 — and only retired then because her family insisted!
She spent her birthday surrounded by family, friends and residents at the care home.
Evelyn’s family credit her steely attitude for helping her reach her 100th birthday on Friday.
Evelyn lived in the same house in Droylsden for 70 years and moved into Total Care, Chadderton, four years ago.
She spent her early working life in the mills before a job at Robertson’s jam factory in Droylsden.
She has two daughters, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
