OLDHAM TV soap star Kelvin Fletcher (pictured) was in the driving seat at the world famous Silverstone racing circuit.
Kelvin fulfilled a lifelong ambition when he raced in front of more than a 100,000 people ahead of Sunday’s British Grand Prix.
The actor, who plays Andy Sugden, in “Emmerdale”, was invited to take part in the Porsche Supercup, a 13-lap race which was the curtain-raiser to the main Formula One event.
Kelvin, who finished 22nd in the race, said afterwards: “These boys were really aggressive right from the off. I had a poor start and had to play catch up.
“But I had some great battles and thoroughly enjoyed it — an unbelievable experience.”
Kelvin is no stranger to motor racing. He drives for RLR Msport, based at the University of Bolton’s Centre for Advanced Performance Engineering — the only fully-fledged racing team based on a university campus.
