YOUNG Oldham musicians are showcasing their talent in a live music event this week.
On Friday, young musicians from the Square 1 community recording studio are teaming up with the Big Music Project — a programme to help aspiring musicians with their careers.
Taking place at Mahdlo youth zone, Oldham, between 6.30 and 10pm, The Big Gig is to give Oldham’s music talent a platform to show the rest of the borough what they can do.
The event will be a means of introducing young people to new music and new people, giving them a chance to socialise and show support to local talent in an array of genres from folk to rock.
Event co-ordinator, Joana Borges, said: “This is going to be a very memorable event. We’ve got some fantastic young musicians, it should be a great atmosphere and the enthusiasm of the event team is sure to inspire everyone who comes down.”
The free event will also feature a number of different stalls and hopes to inspire more people to take part in music making opportunities in the local area.
