CHARITIES and groups got a share of the generosity of Rotary Club of Oldham supporters who raised a whopping £3,876.

And on hand to present some of the cheques was club president Derek Berryman.

Lisa Pearson accepted a £500 donation on behalf of Dr Kershaw’s Hospice and Alan Saleh, from Alternatives to Violence Project, a charity which supports people to deal with conflict and violence through workshops and courses also accepted a donation.

As well as supporting the Mayor’s Charities the club has also made donations to Oldham Mountain Rescue and supported Young Carers.

The club is aware of the needs of many across the world and supports a young boy in Africa through Plan International UK and also supports Water Aid.

The club has also made donations of £1,000 to the Rotary Foundation and Rotary International programme to eliminate polio.

Another donation was made to the British Heart Foundation and club members continue to offer Heartstart Training to community groups and Schools.

Mr Berryman expressed his thanks on behalf of all the club members to the many local people who have given so generously.
