‘Troubled’ family scheme praised
Date published: 15 July 2014
MORE than half of Oldham’s troubled families have turned their lives around, according to the latest Government statistics.
In Oldham, 362 out of the 680 families classified as “troubled” were back on track by May.
These families include those that were previously involved in youth crime or anti-social behaviour, had children who were excluded from school or were regularly truanting and those who had an adult on out-of-work benefits.
Speaking at the Local Government Association annual conference in Bournemouth, Communities Secretary Eric Pickles announced that 52,833 of the most troubled families in England have been turned around by local authority teams since April, 2012.
