It’s a classic . . . Ashley Warren with his Ford Escort RS2000.
MOTORING enthusiasts flocked to Oldham town centre for the ninth classic car show.
Around 50 cars, including Rolls Royces, MGs, Cadillacs, hearses, motorcycles and kit cars were on display in High Street yesterday, with owners on hand to answer questions about their prized vehicles.
Vehicles were judged under 10 different categories — with Julian Ashworth, of Oldham, being presented with the Car of the Show title for his 1950s Ford Prefect.
Among those taking a look at the gleaming cars was David Sims, who said: “It’s a great spectacle to see all these fantastic old cars. I really enjoy seeing how well the owners look after them and talking to them to find out more about them.”
Entertainment was provided by Edinburgh Fringe favourites The Wardens, traditional jazz ensemble The Billy Bedlam Band and the Big Top band. Street Theatre Company duo Lollipop Patrol also helped escort people through the town centre.
Katie Payne said: “I’m very passionate about my cars and I really enjoy coming down every year to see what’s on show.
“It’s hard to pick a favourite because there are so many good ones on show but I think the old Cadillac and the Beauford and Rolls Royce wedding cars are probably the best for me.”
The rally was organised by Tame Valley Vintage and Classic Car Club with support from Oldham Town Centre Partnership.
