A WOMAN has been charged with assault after a month-old baby was admitted to the Royal Oldham Hospital with a head injury.

Monica Dragusin (21), of Cranbrook Street, Oldham, appeared at Oldham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and has been remanded in custody until she appears at crown court next month.

The injured baby is now recovering well and has returned home after staying at the hospital for a number of days to receive treatment.

Mrs Dragusin has been charged with section 20 assault and will appear at Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester, on August 1.

As part of the investigation, Milinovici Radu (23), of Ronald Street, Oldham, and Catalin Danut Stancu (29), of Belgrave Road, Oldham, were also arrested.

They were both later charged with assisting an offender in the commission of an indictable offence.

They also appeared at Oldham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and have been remanded in custody until August 1 where they are due to appear at Minshull Street Crown Court alongside Mrs Dragusin.

An 18-year-old man, also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been bailed pending further inquiries.
