THOUSANDS of young athletes battled for victory as they competed in the Greater Manchester School Games.
Oldhamers enjoyed a great deal of success with Hodge Clough Primary claiming first prize in dodgeball and golf and Radclyffe taking top spot in goalball.
The netball was an all Oldham final with Knowsley taking the top prize after pipping Mills Hill to the post.
Saddleworth School were runners up at basketball, New Bridge took second place at disability football, Royton and Crompton were second at handball and Waterhead Academy were second at seated volleyball.
Third place was claimed by St Paul’s C of E Primary at rounders and by Saddleworth at tennis.
Competitors were treated to a live performance from MDNGHT and Red Sky Noise and also received some words of encouragement from former 400m athlete Daniel Caines.
