Road-rage murder trial
Date published: 22 July 2014
A VAN driver was murdered when a lorry drove over his head in a road-rage incident, a court heard.
Trevor Allen (56), from Swinton, was killed after he got out of his Citroen Berlingo van and stood in front of the DAF truck and trailer, being driven by Mark Slater (47), from Oldham, on April 15.
Slater claims the incident, at around 8am on the A57 on the outskirts of Warrington, was an accident and denies murder.
The jury at Chester Crown Court heard that, following an argument, both drivers came to a stop on the road before Mr Allen exited his vehicle and stood in front of the lorry.
The jury were also told that Slater accepts that he did drive over Mr Allen and caused his death, but denies murder, saying he did not see the victim standing in front of his vehicle.
