A GROUP helping vulnerable people in Oldham’s communities has won a prestigious award at a ceremony in Liverpool.
Oldham Floating Support Partnership (OFSP), a collaboration between Threshold, Turning Point, Aksa Homes and First Choice Homes Oldham scooped top prize in the North-West collaborative action category at the Responsible Business Awards, hosted by BBC journalist Louise Minchin.
The group, funded by Oldham Council, supports people to live independently on matters like debt, health, benefits, jobs, training and a range of other issues faced by vulnerable people in the community.
Steve Goslyn, Threshold chief executive said: “OFSP brings together different organisations to deliver a comprehensive service.
“The best way forward while people are struggling is to collaborate not compete.”
The service works to improve health and well-being while avoiding crisis and has helped 314 people remain in their homes since 2011.
This focus on prevention is cost effective too — it is estimated that £3.66 of public money is saved for every £1 of investment in the service.
