Downing Street visit just the job for OCL
Date published: 01 August 2014
OLDHAM Community Leisure attended a special reception at 10 Downing Street to be recognised for the part they have played in providing 3,000 additional jobs in the last three years.
OCL joined Rochdale-based Rochdale Boroughwide Housing and Let’s Go Global from Salford at the reception.
All three businesses are part of a national initiative which has seen 100 new British businesses — known as mutuals — spin out from the public sector, delivering nearly £1.5 billion of public services.
Speaking at the Downing Street reception to mark the milestone, Minister for the Cabinet office Francis Maude described how mutuals now employ 35,000 people and have generated over 3,000 additional jobs in the last three years alone.
