MANCHESTER comedian and actor Justin Moorhouse is urging residents to nominate unsung heroes for an awards scheme aimed at honouring community champions.
Housing association Contour Homes is running the imPaCt awards — which stands for “inspiring and motivating the personal achievements of contour tenants” — for the fourth year to celebrate tenants who go out of their way to make their areas better places to live.
Contour Homes owns and manages more than 12,000 properties across the North-West, including Oldham. The awards are open to all tenants.
Justin, famous for his role as Kenny in Peter Kay’s “Phoenix Nights”, will present awards to the winners in eight categories at a gala ceremony at Manchester Cathedral on October 24.
Chuffed
The funnyman, who is also joining “Coronation Street” as Flying Horse landlord Dean Upton, said: “I’m chuffed to have been asked to host this year’s ceremony.
“The awards are all about people who go out of their way to run community groups, help their neighbours, improve their areas and make them better places to live.
“If you’re a Contour tenant and you haven’t nominated somebody yet, please get involved.”
Awards up for grabs include Green Achiever, Good Neighbour and Small Group: Big Difference.
Contour Homes engagement officer Rosie Morton, who is organising this year’s event, said: “In previous years, we’ve seen some amazing examples of our tenants going out of their way to put others first.
“We would like our residents to nominate those unsung heroes in their communities. There is some fantastic work that goes on in our neighbourhoods and we would like the opportunity to say thank-you.”
The deadline for nominations is Friday, August 15. Visit www.contourhomes.co.uk to download a nomination form.
