Annie dies, aged 101

A SHAW woman who ran a sweet shop near Dunwood Park has died aged 101.

Annie Preston passed away peacefully at her home on July 30. There will be a service at Saint Saviour’s Church, in Buckstones Road, tomorrow, from 1.15pm.

Annie was born in a house that stood where the play area at Dunwood Park is now sited. Later in life she ran a sweet shop at the corner of Smallbrook Road and Duchess Street, just across from the main park gates.

Wife of the late James, Annie had three children — Joan, Harold and the late Eric — and had four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
