She joins Stockport Unison branch secretary Angela Raynor, who currently has the most votes.
Councillor Stretton who represents Hollinwood, currently sits in second place.
The current MP for Ashton, David Heyes, who has held the seat since 2001, is to stand down ahead of next year’s general election due to poor health. The decision is made on September 6.
