Richard Harrison rode to Land's End to raise money for Dr. Kershaw's Hospice.
SWAPPING banking for his bike is Richard Harrison, who is using pedal power to raise pounds.
The 30-year-old clerk, of Royton, has embarked on his biggest personal challenge yet — riding from Land’s End to John O’Groats.
So far he has made it to Lancaster and expects to complete the journey on Saturday.
Richard said: “My dad, Rex, spent about a fortnight in Dr Kershaw’s Hospice not long before he died in July, 2011. He was 64. I’m doing this to raise money for the hospice in his memory.
“Many people know the impact Dr Kershaw’s had on my family and no doubt many readers have their own connections to the hospice.
“My favourite bit of the ride so far was cycling down the runways of a disused RAF station in Cornwall, Some of the hills in Devon and Cornwall have been pretty tough. It’s been a real test for the legs but the views are worth it.
“There’s some spectacular scenery down there.”
Richard, who cycles to work, has also completed a coast-to-coast 170-mile bike ride from Morecombe to Bridlington.
