Cause of baby death not yet known
Date published: 20 August 2014
A POST-mortem examination into the death of newborn Holts infant George Charnock has proved inconclusive.
Police were called to Lychgate Court in the early hours of Friday by paramedics. George, who was less than three weeks old, was pronounced dead in hospital shortly afterwards.
His as-yet-unnamed grandmother has been arrested on suspicion of causing his death by “overlaying” - accidental smothering while sleeping alongside the baby while intoxicated.
The 55 year old has been bailed until September 26 while inquiries continue.
