National role for council leader

OLDHAM Council leader Jim McMahon is to represent local government on the Labour Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
The NEC oversees the overall direction of the party and policy-making process by setting annual strategic objectives and reviewing party performance.
Councillor McMahon will have some influence on the direction of the Labour Party nationally.
The NEC also sets the basis of Labour’s General Election manifesto.
Councillor McMahon, a father of two, also serves as Labour group leader on the Local Government Association.
