Woman of Oldham set to be revealed
Date published: 29 August 2014
The 2014 Woman of Oldham will be unveiled at the annual lunch and presentation on September 24.
The winner will follow in the footsteps of Royton grandmother Marjorie Bamforth, honoured last year after five decades of voluntary and fund-raising work.
Now in its 22nd year, the event recognises often-unsung heroes who work behind the scenes - as well as raising £111,000 for charity since it began.
This year’s lunch, at the White Hart, Lydgate, is in aid of Heathbank Support Services, Werneth, which provides day care and supported housing for young adults with cerebral palsy.
Tickets cost £40, including a drinks reception, three-course meal and wine, from 01457-820 404.
