Care home gets the go-ahead
Date published: 29 August 2014
A care home is to be built next to Hotel Smokies Park.
The 47-bed home will be built on a site in Ashton Road derelict since the demolition of a petrol station in 1990.
Plans for a 40-bedroom home were originally granted by councillors in 2010, but the application lapsed in 2013 and new plans submitted.
