Christmas check-in for hotel project

A REPORT on all the options for Oldham’s Hotel Future project will be ready before Christmas, Oldham Council leader Jim McMahon told full council last night.
The current state of the plan for a 120-bedroom luxury hotel, with training for apprentices, managers and interns alongside experienced members of staff, was raised several times by councillors.
Failed UKIP candidate Joe Fitzpatrick first raised the question at a public questions session by asking if the plan had been abandoned.
Conservative councillor John Hudson said: “Talking up the borough is great but we need to keep everybody informed. Can we have some sort of progress report?”
Councillor McMahon said the details were being worked out: “The council is determined to bring a scheme that delivers all core objectives,” he said. “We are in the process of trying to save some cash on the project right now.
“In terms of hotels I feel we are not making the most of our position in Greater Manchester and the plan is to change that.”
