New school proposal welcomed

A VETERAN Saddleworth councillor has welcomed Oldham Council’s decision to consider a new site for the new Saddleworth School.
Land at the back of the WH Shaw pallet works in Diggle is now being reviewed as a possible site for the new school — rather than at the front, next to Huddersfield Road.
Councillor Derek Heffernan said: “This was the proposal from a group of councillors from that area right from the beginning. I’m very pleased the council is considering this proposal.”
