Evita coup for Mossley society
Date published: 16 September 2014
Mossley Amateur Operatic Society is to become the UK’s first amateur company to stage the Rice-Lloyd Webber classic musical “Evita”.
Permission to stage the show has been granted by Lord Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful production company after years of calls and requests by Mossley AODS chairman John Fletcher and secretary John Buckley.
The group — which has previously staged a hugely successful youth production of “Les Miserables” — will present the story of Agentinian dictator Juan Peron and his publicity-loving wife Eva at Mossley’s George Lawton Hall next April.
“I guess persistence finally paid off for us,” said John Fletcher. “John Buckley has been pestering them for years.”
The company will hold a get-together for potential cast members on September 25. Information from John Buckley on 01457-870875.
