Children’s nurses in Oldham are celebrating after scooping an award for providing outstanding care.
The Children’s Community Nurses team - part of Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - was voted a winner in the trust-wide Principles of Care Awards.
The nurses were nominated for the award after successfully launching a programme to help wean infants off night-time oxygen at home rather than in hospital. The scheme has been so successful it will now be applied to older children, allowing them to go home during treatment.
Team leader Teresa Carey said: “There are some very challenging aspects to our work with chronically and seriously ill children.”
The team is now in the running to be declared the trust’s overall Principles of Care Awards winner in October.
