Jobless total drops by 300

OVER 300 fewer people claimed Jobseekers Allowance in Oldham last month as joblessness continued to fall.
The number of men unemployed in August fell from 2,209 to 2,004, while the figure for women dropped from 1,469 to 1,355.
Job centre manager Trish Hallows said she was encouraged to see a further decrease in youth unemployment: “The youth unemployment figures are great and we have undertaken a lot of initiatives to get people back to work.”
In Greater Manchester. there were 46,891 people claiming JSA in August, a decrease of 2,700 from July.
Youth unemployment in Greater Manchester decreased by approximately 705 to around 10,530.
