Date published: 23 September 2014
TWO Oldham bands have been chosen to play at the Schools Prom at the Royal Albert Hall.
Bare Trees Community Band from Chadderton and Blue Coat School’s brass band will perform on November 11 and 12 at the three-day Music for Youth event, which showcases the best music by schools and young people.
The Oldham bands were invited after they won performance practice awards at the Music for Youth National Festival in Birmingham in July.
Neil Hewson, head of music at Blue Coat, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for our young musicians and it will be the first time that the band has performed at the Royal Albert Hall. It promises to be a concert that the band, and staff, will never forget!”
