Medlock’s goal to win national final

STREETS ahead: the Medlock United StreetGames team will represent the North-West in the national finals at St George’s Park
A TEAM of talented Oldham teenagers is to represent the North West in a national football competition.
Medlock United beat Rochdale, Preston, Anfield and Chorley at the regional contest at the Trafford Centre’s “Soccerdome” in April.
The team of eight boys from Fitton Hill and Hathershaw, aged between 16 and 19, will face teams from Birmingham, Plymouth, Cardiff, Swindon, London, Chesterfield, Newcastle, Glasgow and Leeds at St George’s Park national football centre in Burton-on-Trent on Saturday in the hope of being crowned StreetGames Football Pools Fives national champions.
They will be joined by a host of sports stars including former England defender and current England under-21s manager Gareth Southgate, England women’s defender Sophie Bradley and former England boss Graham Taylor.
