£10,000 will pay for youth work

Aksa Homes has been awarded £10,000 to help run a youth project and bring communities together.

The Big Lottery funding will be supplemented by Aksa’s own money for its “A-Team Youth” project, set up in January to encourage young tenants to develop healthy lifestyles.

Aksa will work with community development charity Groundwork to run the programme.

The money will pay for work sessions at community centres in St Mary’s, Coldhurst and Werneth which will help young people to develop creative talents in street art and craft projects.

The project will run for four months in each of the three areas over the next 12 months and will work with around 30 people in each area.
