OLDHAM is to build a special school with state-of-the-art facilities for pupils with autism.
Contractors Extraspace Solutions will begin work on the £6.25m project, which is expected to open in September 2015, sponsored by New Bridge School. The school will stand on the site of the former Kaskenmoor School in Hollinwood
The new building will provide the right educational environment for 140 autistic-spectrum pupils aged four to 19.
The new school will feature a sports hall - also to be used by the local community outside school hours - and specialised training shops to help students find employment after leaving school.
