Man faces child abduction charge

A 27-YEAR-OLD man was due to appear at Oldham Magistrates Court this morning charged with child abduction.

Police were called to Meldrum Street in Hathershaw just after 5pm on Monday, September 22, following reports that a one-year-old girl had been taken from her house while her mum was upstairs.

The mum confronted a man holding her daughter in a neighbouring address and there was a short struggle before the mum eventually managed to get the child back. The man then ran off.

Michael Keeton, of Meldrum Street, has been charged with child abduction.
