Council and school action called off
Date published: 13 October 2014
TOMORROW’S planned strike action by local government workers and school support staff has been suspended.
UNISON, GMB and UNITE — who represent more than 1.5 million workers in local government and schools - will now consult members on new proposals from the Local Government Association.
A spokesman for Oldham Council said: “Plans were in place to accommodate the impact of strike action tomorrow. Now all council services will be open as usual.”
Brian Strutton, GMB national secretary for public services, said “We have an agreed set of new proposals which we will consult on and while doing that GMB is suspending the strike.”
