Your chance to shape Oldham’s future

OLDHAM Council is looking for suggestions on ways to improve the town during Local Democracy Week.

Councillors and staff are taking part in several activities this week, and the main focus is on ways to make Oldham better.

Council leader Jim McMahon and Councillor Amanda Chadderton, cabinet member for education and safeguarding, will be speaking in schools about the importance of local democracy. Both will also attending an Oldham Youth Council Question Time event tomorrow at the Civic Centre with MPs Michael Meacher and David Heyes, MEP Teresa Griffin, deputy council leader Jean Stretton and Saddleworth Councillor Garth Harkness.

Oldhamers can get involved with local democracy by suggesting ways to help the council deal with a £60 million budget cut over the next two years.
