People power delays residential proposal

THE former Yew Tree Residential Home in Chadderton.
Plans to turn a former residential home into shared living accommodation have been delayed following a 250-name petition against the development.
Councillors agreed last night that the large number of objections to the change for the former Yew Tree residential home in Sycamore Avenue, Chadderton, warranted a review.
The plans would see the unused building turned into a 19-bed block by developer Simple Living, which. offers single-bedroom rented housing with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities.
Objections have been made by neighbours worried about anti-social behaviour, noise, a loss of privacy, a decrease in property values, safety fears and a lack of parking.
