POLICE have released an e-fit image of the thug a mother fought off as he attempted to steal her car.
The man struck when Deborah Smythe (52) left her car door open while she unlocked a barrier. He jumped into the driver’s seat and tried to drive off. But the 6ft 3in thug got more than he bargained for as Mrs Smythe managed to get the door open and wrestled the car back as he ran off.
The drama unfolded in Ripponden Road, Oldham on September 26, when Mrs Smythe was gripped in a terrifying two-minute struggle which saw her nearly run over several times and left her bloody and bruised.
The incident was captured on CCTV and footage was uploaded to the internet where it has since been seen by millions of people. Anyone with information they believe could help police track the would-be thief down should call them on 0161-856 1169 or Crimestoppers on 0800- 555 111.
