Oldham College is to axe 24 jobs — but 16 new ones are being created.
All the posts affected are non-teaching staff, but the college wouldn’t what types of posts were being axed or what new jobs are being created.
The redundancy consultation period has begun. Bosses says they will “make every attempt” to find suitable alternative posts for those affected.
The college has 550 full-time employees. A spokesman said: “Twenty-four staff have been placed at risk of redundancy, none of whom are teaching staff, and voluntary redundancies are being considered as part of the process. Everyone is aware of the wider context of cuts to public funding.
“There is no indication that the situation is likely to change in the foreseeable future, so the only way we can continue to offer high quality education is by ensuring we are as efficient as we can be.”
