TASTY treat . . . butcher Bill Harrison with his sausages
BUTCHER Bill Harrison has got some special sausage secrets to baffle a pub’s customers this week.
Bill will be offering seven different sausages to tickle the taste buds of regulars at Oldham’s CAMRA pub of the year. As a celebration of the launch of British Sausage Week, early regulars at the Carrion Crow, Huddersfield Road will be able to taste a different sausage each night until Sunday.
The tasters have to guess the ingredients of each one, with a spectacular “Sausage-Off” next Monday.
Bill, who has run his shop on Ripponden Road for 25 years, teamed up with pub landlord Tony Robins to bring a unique twist to the nationwide sausage extravaganza.
And the overall winner will claim a prize and have their name engraved on a special sausage shield.
Bill’s sausage menu currently includes chilli and coriander, black pudding and smoked bacon, honey and mustard, red onion and traditional Cumberland.
But Bill’s ingredients for his sausages this week remain top secret.
