Shopping software wins star prize

AN Oldham company whose mobile phone app tells shoppers about the latest offers has been named Innovation Business of the Year.
OfferMoments, run by Abdul Alim and Shahzad Mughal, designed the app to let people know what offers are available from shops and restaurants as they walk past them.
The business, of the Greengate Business Centre in Glodwick, was launched in January and will now receive £30,000 worth of prizes and services to help the company grow
IT expert Abdul said the app, launched a month ago, took eight months to develop. Greggs, Starbucks and Subway have already signed up to use it.
Licences for the app have also been sold in Australia, Dubai and Scandinavia.
Abdul said: “What’s great about the app is that it works in real time and is a time saver for consumers. They can the latest offers when they walk past a shop or restaurant.
“We are delighted to have won. The help we will receive will let us concentrate on developing and marketing the app to a wider audience.”
