A Lees primary school is set for a major boost after landing £19,000 to help build a new outdoor sports area.
St Agnes Primary School on Knowls Lane has won the funding as part of Sport England’s £18 million National Lottery-funded Primary School Facilities Fund.
The investment is designed to support schools in greatest need of improvements. At St Agnes the money will go towards an activity court with special surfacing and floor markings.
Kirsten Swift, head teacher, said: “All the children associated with St Agnes will be now be able to compete with other schools on the new outdoor sports area — the children are very excited and are already planning team events.”
