Michael Meacher, Oldham West and Royton MP said: “This is an historic occasion and I cannot welcome this announcement enough.
“One of the leading retailers in the country wants to come to Oldham and it indicates growth in our area. It is a celebration of confidence in Oldham and what we have to offer that this vast organisation wants to invest here. I’m lost for words about this remarkable investment. I could not be happier.”
Debbie Abrahams, MP for Oldham East and Saddleworth said: "This is a real coup for Oldham and another huge step in the right direction for the town's reinvention.
"At a time when the council is reeling from massive cuts imposed by the Government, it's a great credit to Oldham Council leader Jim McMahon, his Cabinet members and everyone working on the project that such a wonderful development like this is coming to town."
Oldham’s Liberal Democrat leader Howard Sykes said: “This announcement is something we have awaited for a long time.
“It’s a big boost for the town. The development will regenerate that end of the town, which has been grim for a long time.”
