Oldham’s Co-operative Funeralcare service has pledged its support for the Oldham Foodbank.
Staff at the John Street premises had the idea after relatives asked for somewhere to donate the cleared contents of their late family member’s cupboards. The company highlighted the issue in leaflets given to the bereaved.
Funeral arranger Joanne Mountford and director Katie Fretwell visited the foodbank on Clegg Street to donate some food they had collected.
Joanne said: “Coming up to Christmas it’s that bit more important to highlight the work of the food bank.”
To donate unwanted food, take it to the John Street premises, or the Middleton Road branch in Chadderton.
