RAISING aspirations . . . Tony Lloyd speaks to some of the Greater Manchester Police cadets
YOUNG Oldhamers will be helped to keep out of trouble with a new £600,000 fund, Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Lloyd announced yesterday.
The Youth Aspiration Fund will support work with vulnerable children and young people at risk of offending.
Oldham youth groups and organisations are being invited to bid for a share of the money for projects aimed at keeping young people away from crime. Grants of up to £5,000 are available, with £100,000 for major projects.
Mr Lloyd said: “We want to keep young people out of the criminal justice system and we all have a responsibility to give them the support to make the right choices in life.
A police cadets scheme, which runs across all divisions of Greater Manchester Police is already funded by the commissioner. Oldham has 30 cadets aged 13-18.
Any organisation interested in applying for a grant can find more online at www.gmpcc.org.uk/aspiration.
