TV stars launch drama school

Shameless stars Jody Latham and Sarah Byrne are opening their own drama school.
A FORMER “Shameless” actress, from Oldham, and her husband and co-star are opening their own drama school to make sure actors above 16 are not slipping through the net.
Sarah Byrne, who was first noticed at Oldham Theatre Workshop, and husband Jody Latham, are next month opening the doors to their drama school next to Manchester Central Library.
The married couple, known best for their roles as Meena and Lip, in the hit Channel 4 series, say too much acting talent is being wasted.
They feel a lot of focus is put on finding young acting talent and that this means a lot of adults go unnoticed.
Sarah said: “Jody and I were noticed when we were performing at local drama schools, I started at Oldham Theatre Workshop. We know the importance of having drama schools in the community.
“Something we have also both picked up on is that often adults feel it is too late to be noticed or that there are not enough opportunities out there for them.
“We want to give people a platform to showcase their talent but also we would really like to share our experiences as we have spent alot of years acting.”
The drama school will officially open on January 20, 2015.
