A FUTURISTIC football complex with 10 outdoor pitches could soon be built on the historic Lancaster Club site in Failsworth.
Plans were announced two years ago to create a development featuring 140 homes, a commercial unit with parking and relocated allotments.
The Grade-II listed building was once earmarked as a future home for Oldham Athletic but plans were scrapped in favour of redeveloping Boundary Park.
The existing pitches, occupied by AVRO Football Club, were relocated to a site two miles away, off Higher Lime Road.
The new building, to be named Goals Soccer Centre, will feature eight 20x30m pitches and two 25x42.5m pitches with overhead netting and fences surrounding them.
The plans, which will be debated at a future meeting of Oldham Council’s planning committee, are the latest instalment in the on-going saga of the land’s future.
