Shoppers step back in time for Victorian market

CHRISTMAS shoppers were treated to all the fun of the fair as the Victorian Market came to Oldham.
As well as stalls selling festive fare, visitors were able to try their hand at traditional games, such as hook a duck, coconut shy and hoop toss. Youngsters enjoyed free rides on a retro carousel.
Street entertainers, such as jugglers, tap-dancing turkeys, Dickensian-style performers and Festive Foxley’s magical penny farthing, kept last-minute shoppers entertained.
Caroline Greenwood, who was enjoying the carousel with her two children, said: “This is a great event and I can’t believe all the games and the rides are free. It’s just a shame it’s so cold.”
Daniel Moreson said he has visited all the town centre events in the run up to Christmas with his three children adding: “It keeps the kids entertained for a few hours without costing too much.”
