Snowed Under!
Date published: 29 December 2014
SNOW fell across Oldham on Boxing Day evening as temperatures plunged and icy winter weather arrived.
A white blanket covered hill tops, roads and homes with much of the snow remaining in place throughout the weekend.
Chronicle readers and photographers braved the freezing conditions to take pictures across the borough.
The cold weather is set to remain for the rest of the week, gradually warming.
Prior to the snowfall, shoppers clamoured to grab Boxing Day bargains and cut-price Christmas offers as sales fever swept Oldham. Motorists queued to get into Elk Mill Retail Park as stores were packed with customers eager to grab deals.
Town-centre traders were also besieged by bargain hunters with Spindles and Town Square Shopping Centre enjoying a post-Christmas sales flurry
