Date published: 30 December 2014

A POPULAR local crown green bowler has released a book aboit his lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis.

Keith Rudman hopes “Living With a Killer” will raise money for the hospital which has treated him for years.

Keith, Greater Manchester’s bowls team manager, was born with the disease. His parents were told he wouldn’t be expected to live past the age of 20. But after celebrating his 50th birthday Keith, from Todmorden, set about producing his biography with journalist Steve McHugh.

The book’s proceeds will be donated to the Pearce Ward, a specialised cystic fibrosis unit at the University Hospital of South Manchester, where Keith and other patients across the region are treated.

The book details the routine he must undertake each day to survive.

An estimated 10,000 people in the UK are affected by the genetic condition, which is caused by a faulty gene.

“Living With A Killer” is available from Beales Department Store, Rochdale; Todmorden Tourist Information Centre, and the Dyers Arms, Littleborough, and from Keith on 07949 491480.
