Night work for smart m-way
Date published: 06 January 2015
Overnight closures will occur on sections of the M60 from Monday for work to turn it into a “smart” motorway.
The Highways Agency has pledged to keep all lanes open during the daytime for the entire project, but will introduce narrow lanes and night-time closures to permit this.
Construction work began last July. Contractors have already installed narrow lanes between junctions 18 at Simister and 20 at Rochdale on the M62.
They will now introduce narrow lanes and steel safety barriers on the stretch between junction 15 of the M61 and junction 8 of the M60 near Sale, using overnight closures over the next three weeks.
