PROPOSED driving range . . . at Bishop’s Park pitch and putt golf course
PLANS have been submitted for a new driving range and cafe at the Bishop’s Park pitch and putt course.
The golf course is owned by Oldham Council but leased to applicants Pennine Golf Ltd. A decision will be made by the planning committee later this month.
The range will feature two blocks of 12 driving bays along the North-West boundary, meaning golfers will drive away from traffic on Grains Road. The existing booking office will become a cafe.
Mark Cumiskey, director of Pennine Golf Ltd, said: “We had hoped to get work started sooner but we’re still confident of having the first half of the range built by Easter.
“We hope this work will draw the crowds in. It’s a great facility for people to come and use and improve their game and we are going to be offering lessons at the range too.
“We’ve had a lot of interest and this will be one of the few driving ranges in the area.”
