THE parents of murdered Craig Wilcox have launched an emotional plea for information — a year on from his death.
Stephen (57) and Carolyn Wilcox (55) have spoken for the first time since Craig's body was found in Dovestone reservoir last February. Craig (28) was last seen at his parents home in Norfolk Crescent, Failsworth.
Mum Carolyn said: “We just want to know what happened to Craig. We’re getting questions off his son and he’s only seven. We’ve told him as much as we can and he knows he won’t be coming back. We don’t hide it from him. Sometimes he says ‘I wish my dad wasn’t dead’.
“It’s been a difficult time for us over Christmas. We haven’t celebrated it as a family but we tried to gloss over it as much as possible for little Craig.”
Dad Stephen appealed to anyone who knows anything about Craig's disappearance to come forward.
He said: “Craig couldn’t drive so for him to finish up there he must have been taken. We weren’t aware of any connections he had with Dovestone.”
The couple reported him missing and an investigation established Craig feared for his safety.
On February 24, police were called to Dovestone following reports of a body. Craig was recovered from the water.
Carolyn said she noticed nothing different in his behaviour before he went missing and he hadn’t told his parents of any problems.
Stephen added: “He was very laid back. He was a great lad with a fantastic sense of humour and we just want answers to what happened to our son.”
