Ched Evans: deal over and done, but how long will it take for Latics to bounce back?
IT was going to take something extra special to help Latics fans put the Ched Evans saga behind them... step forward Carl Boyeson.
With a string of controversial decisions, the referee united supporters as they saw their team’s 2-0 lead slip away as Doncaster Rovers — managed by ex-Latics boss Paul Dickov — claimed an unlikely draw.
The past week had been dominated by rumours of the club signing Evans. Fan opinions were polarised: some would have welcomed the 26-year-old striker and others vowed they would boycott Sports Direct.com Park if he signed.
Events on the pitch soon took the attention away from the activities of the previous week. Oldham went two up until a red card for Joe Mills and controversial first goal followed by an equaliser five minutes into added time ruined the day for home fans.
Supporters left the ground angry at the ref and rueing the loss of two points: pretty much business as usual in the life of a Latics fan.
