Shannon Clifford: lifting for Britain
A LEES powerlifter is set to compete in European after being crowned British champion.
Shannon Clifford (21), who began competing a year ago, raised funds a sponsor stepped in allowing Shannon to stake a claim for the European powerlifting championship title in March.
The former Oldham Sixth Former splits her time between training in Lees and studying business and finance at Huddersfield University.
She said: “I’m proud to have been selected to compete. I won my category at the British championships and am now looking forward to competing in my first international competition and being able to represent my country.”
Shannon can lift 140kg - two-and-a-half times her body weight.
